Intrigued by the possibilities of creating a “portrait” using the beautiful malleability and rich color of soft pastels to show light and shadows, I dashed colors onto my paper where I saw the light and dark places on this individual’s face… and I always enjoy the mystique of the masquerade. Thus, this masked actor emerged.
