"Morning Light in Arles"
On a recent plein air painting trip to Provence, I stopped to paint this view of a quiet street being awakened by the morning light of a summer sky, the shadows, angles of the stone buildings, the varying hues/values of the colorful houses, abstract shapes and the variety of eponymous blue shutters adorning the homes in Provence made me want to capture this scene of stillness, warmth, color and light.
