Sunshine on Irises

After the gray winter, the irises were a colorful inspiration to paint. I love working with soft pastel because of their beautiful rich colors, the possibilities they offer for interesting paintings and they are fun to work with! I am largely self taught taking courses on line and a few at a 2 year college. I also paint in oils. Subjects have to inspire some positive emotion in me to paint them, my purpose is to bring positive emotion or thoughtfulness. This painting is about renewal and joy.
