My Boots are Planted

My Boots are Planted
This urban scene grabbed my attention when I looked up to see many colorful cowboy boots sitting on a windowsill outside of a vintage store in Savannah. I was captivated by the wrought iron railing and the shadow play on the walls, along with the reflections in the antique window. Upon closer inspection, I realized the boots were planted with succulents!

To create this colorful composition, I did an underpainting using Dr. Ph. Martin concentrated watercolors, and then applied the pastel. I added Sennelier iridescent pastels as a finishing touch.
